Architektonische Psychodramen

There is not one but many, a kind of memory scenario that has made itself up out of a spatial perception as there was no other understanding available. Performing a speech while drawing into space, while singing the lines of a forgotten song. The song had to be forgotten in order to refresh its tunes. The contradictions of readdressing while inventing a fictive memory. A play forgetting its scenario, although everybody is playing in it. Memory becomes a leftover which is asking to be performed. Composition becomes the issue.
 

Suchan Kinoshita’s show at P/////AKT marks the fifth and last part of the exhibition program Am I an Object. It will be responded to in writing and an event by students from the Sandberg Institute Critical Studies Department.

*BLOW OUT* – The smell of a match after it’s struck. Blowing out a candle to smell it again, [the image of a birthday cake]. Lighting one after another. It smells like victory. I’m not a pyromaniac, I promise.
(…) or to catch sight of a teardrop of tin suspiciously sliding away, anticipating those two-pieced arms affectionately embracing a cone-shaped torso. No, the teardrop couldn’t take the heat of the embrace. It had to slide off, creating an eerie sound caused by their breaking, concrete blocks.

Intrigued by the time-based element of video, Tessa Langeveld creates moments that slowly unfold as a fragmentary narrative – the act of making is not in the choice of the subject, but in the choice of the meaningful moment. Langeveld graduated from AKI (Enschede) in 2020.

Riet Wijnen – Sixteen Conversations on Abstraction: Tool One (Template Ruler 1-5)

Sixteen Conversations on Abstraction: Tool One (Template Ruler 1-5)  is an edition developed by Riet Wijnen and consists of a set of five template rulers designed by five artists and graphic designers: Dafne Boggeri, Linda van Deursen, Mandy El-Sayegh, Ima-Abasi Okon and Haegue Yang, which are collected in a handmade etui. 

The edition is produced on the occasion of Wijnen’s solo exhibition Sixteen Conversations on Abstraction (table / table) at Kunstverein Milano, and in collaboration with P/////AKT, Amsterdam, San Serriffe, Amsterdam and Kunstverein Toronto.

It started with a hole in a stone, worked in by the sea water over time. A material associated with hardness, stability, steadiness, is persistently eroded by something soft and flexible. This process isn’t visible, but can be recognised by the presence of the hole (or by the signifier O) as its current state.

Kunstenaars: Janina Frye, Isabella Fürnkäs & Tobias Groot

Bridging Borders is een samenwerkingsproject tussen Platform POST en CONSTANT 1 0 1. Van juli 2021 tot juli 2022 viert CONTANT 1 0 1 dat beeldend kunstenaar Constant Nieuwenhuys (1920-2005), beter bekend als Constant, 101 jaar geleden werd geboren.

Voor Bridging Borders nodigde P–OST drie kunstenaars uit die zich in hun werk of praktijk bezig houden met de relaties tussen machines of technologie en de mens. In deze expositie worden de werken van de deelnemende kunstenaars gecontextualiseerd binnen het denken van Constant Nieuwenhuys. Centraal staat de vraag in hoeverre automatisering, machines of technologie de mens vrijheid of beperkingen geven wanneer ze in toenemende mate met elkaar verweven raken. Ook wil P–OST met deze tentoonstelling ruimte bieden voor Duitse en/of in Duitsland woonachtige kunstenaars om ook deze grenzen te overbruggen.

Op woensdagavond 2 maart luisteren we samen met muziektherapeut Christina Santaka naar muziek terwijl we de tentoonstelling Bridging Borders bekijken.
Wat voor gevoel roepen de kunstwerken op en welke muziek past daarbij? Dat is de insteek van dit programma, waarbij we samen naar muziek luisteren en aan de hand daarvan praten we over de tentoonstelling. Het is hiervoor niet nodig om verstand van kunst te hebben of van te voren al muziek in gedachten te hebben.

On Wednesday evening, March 2th, we listen to music with music therapist Christina Santaka while viewing the Bridging Borders exhibition.
What kind of feeling do the artworks evoke and which music goes with it? That is the approach of this program, where we listen to music together and use it as a starting point to talk about the exhibition. It is not necessary to know a lot about art or to have music in mind beforehand.

Op donderdagavond 24 maart organiseert Platform POST een verdiepende avond met de naam ‘Echo.’

Sprekers: Pim Haselager en Sabine Winters.
De andere sprekers worden nog aangekondigd op de website.

Tijdens deze avond schijnen mensen uit  verschillende werkvelden hun licht op het thema van de tentoonstelling Bridging Borders: de relaties tussen machines of technologie en de mens. De kunstwerken stellen elk op hun eigen manier de vraag in hoeverre automatisering, machines en technologie de mens vrijheid of gevangenschap geven wanneer ze steeds meer met elkaar verweven raken. De sprekers van dit programma zullen allemaal twintig minuten hun gedachten over dit vraagstuk delen en daarmee een mozaïek aan perspectieven aanreiken.
 
Pim Haselager is Professor Societal Implications of AI – Principal Investigator SIAC –
Dpt. of Artificial Intelligence – Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour – Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen. Haselager is gefascineerd door de mogelijkheden van het ontwikkelen van intelligente, sociaal interactieve robots.

Sabine Winters is filosoof, programmamaker en schrijver. Ze werkt op
het interdisciplinaire snijvlak van kunst, wetenschap en filosofie. Winters is tevens de oprichter van het interdisciplinaire filosofieplatform Future Based, dat o.a. discussies organiseert over vraagstukken rondom de toekomst, zoals: in hoeverre worden (of zijn) we afhankelijk van robots? Of: worden we straks misschien deels robot en gaan we in de toekomst ook liefdesrelaties met robots aan?

Zondagmiddag 20 maart neemt kunstenaar en art-mediator Wanda Tiersma je mee op toer langs de kunstwerken in de tentoonstelling Bridging Borders in Arnhem. Op een ongedwongen manier laat Tiersma zien dat iedereen naar kunst kan kijken en ervan kan genieten.
Daarbij toont zij verschillende manieren om naar kunstwerken te kijken en om erover in gesprek te gaan. Het doel daarbij is om gedachten uit te wisselen en samen nieuwe perspectieven te ontdekken. Samen zie je immers meer dan alleen. Kijk je graag naar kunst en vind je het leuk om daar samen over te praten? Doe dan mee!
 

Une nouvelle exposition ouvrira ses portes le dimanche 20 février 2022 à 14h à la galerie Jeune Création !

C’est beau, c’est loin est un commissariat de Max Coulon et Ludivine Gonthier. 
Avec : Jule Bode, Tamara Goehringer, Yongkuk Ko, Vincent Krüger, Ninya Lehrheuer, Jordan Madlon, Paul Friedrich Millet, Raoul Muck, Miriam Schmitz.

C’est beau, c’est loin, c’est une invitation : un peu comme si on voulait vérifier qu’il y a bien tous ces kilomètres entre nous. Juste pour être sûr que la distance existe encore et que les tableaux sont bien réels. En gros, ça revient à transporter des questions dans un endroit où l’on parle une autre langue, s’essayer à la traduction d’une pensée, d’un travail, d’une exposition.

La traduction comporte des risques, le sens des choses y est en danger. En invitant neuf artistes allemands à la galerie Jeune Création, nous usons du plaisir de mal parler une langue, de provoquer des malentendus, de mimer un mot. Le mot allemand « knutschen » se traduit en français par « bécoter ». En français, bécoter est un mot qui n’est plus utilisé par les adolescents depuis longtemps, il sonne vieillot, comme venu d’un ancien temps, se donner un bécot, se bécoter c’est les histoires de nos grands-parents. Le mot allemand knutschen, comme en témoigne cette photo prise dans un abribus de Brackenheim, est toujours bien vivant. On peut y lire une inscription, « wer wil knuschen 887 087 », avec fautes d’orthographe et numéro de téléphone. Knutschen sent la bave, il évoque l’image de deux adolescents qui se roulent des pelles, avec un sentiment étrange où se mêlent une excitation extrême et la peur de mal faire.

D’une langue à l’autre, entre les mots, il y a des interstices, des déformations, des changements d’ambiances. Ici, on ne traduira pas les peintures, on se contentera de les transporter d’un endroit à un autre et d’observer les ricochets qu’elles provoquent. Cette exposition est née d’une envie de traverser le Rhin dans l’autre sens. De faire prendre le pont à d’autres.
