FOCUS – Masterclass EJTECH
EJTECH are Budapest based duo Judit Eszter Kárpáti and Esteban de la Torre. They use soft interfaces and augmented textiles to explore sound, touch, space and light in performative installations, multichannel sonic sculptures and dynamic surfaces. RESIDENCY Currently in residency at Overtoon, French designer-artist-developer-composer, Thomas Barbé is an Esad Saint-Étienne graduate. His work, which questions sound and its sensory perception, is inscribed in the electro-acoustic and digital fields through installations and / or audio software. Through these works he invites the spectator to rediscover in situ listening experiences. EVENTS Even more Oscillations when our resident artist Clarice Calvo-Pinsolle is invited for a residency at the bb15 gallery in Linz, Austria. She will build and present her new installation ce qu'il reste des échos with her ceramic sculptures showing different shapes and resonances and equipped with speakers to create a spatial sound environment in the exhibition space. The soundscape is created using sounds recorded in Linz such as voices, echoes, and various field recordings to evoke memories of places visited. CCHA dedicates a festival to the piano with dance performances, concerts, film screenings …and an installation by Floris Van Hoof, our coproduction of 2021. Antenna presents the upright body of a piano with its strings and mechanics exposed. Ever- present electromagnetic waves that fly through the air (imploding stars, far away lightning, planes, traffic, our phones etc) are picked up by the antenna and translated to small electromagnets that make strings of the piano sing. Antenna by Floris Vanhoof VOLTA is back once more! Yann Leguay presents the performance version of his OVERTOON production at the SONIC PROTEST Festival. In fact, the annual festival INTERFERENCE_S by Centre Wallonie Bruxelles in Paris teams up with SONIC PROTEST 2022 to host an evening of sound performances at their headquarters. VOLTA by Yann Leguay ONGOING EVENTS The VOID exhibition at Le Botanique presents a full-scale installation in the museum space that immerses the viewer in a parallel universe. The exhibition rooms become the production headquarters for SARA (Souvenir Archival Recording Apparatus), a fictitious company that collects and archives the verbal and memorial traces of mankind. CROP CIRCLE A collective studio exhibition by Martin Bonnaz – Artist-in-residence Saturday the 19th of March, from 12 to 6 pm  Crop Circle, Fondation CAB, Brussels, 2022 Martin Bonnaz and Fondation CAB is happy to invite you to the group exhibition Crop Circle with Héloise Colrat, Pauline Faivre, Amate Gueye, Naoki Karathanassis, Fabien Karp and Thily Voissier. Our 17th artist-in-residence at Fondation CAB in Brussels, Martin Bonnaz (n.1994, Annemasse, France) who has won the 2021 prize in collaboration with La Cambre, is organising a group exhibition where young artists confront the latest modernist narratives of minimal and conceptual art. This young art scene creates a relationship and a redefinition of the essential constituents for the making of a minimal work. Crop Circle exhibition, organized in intersecting layers, offers a journey of artistic pluralism that prefers transgression and metamorphosis to conformity and linear progression.

Cette jeune scène artistique crée une mise en relation et une redéfinition des constituantes essentielles à la fabrication d’une œuvre minimale. L’exposition Crop Circle, organisée en strates entrecroisés, offre un parcours de pluralités artistiques qui préfére la transgression et la métamorphose à la conformité et la progression linéaire.

Deze jonge kunstscène creëert een relatie en een herdefiniëring van de essentiële bestanddelen voor het maken van een minimaal werk. De tentoonstelling Crop Circle, georganiseerd in elkaar kruisende lagen, biedt een reis van artistiek pluralisme dat transgressie en metamorfose verkiest boven conformiteit en lineaire progressie.

The exhibition includes artworks shown in historic exhibitions and other sculptures never previously exhibited. It traces the different periods of the artist’s oeuvre, featuring linear sculptures in acrylic yarn, elastic cord, and steel rod. The artist conceived a relationship to spaces seemingly both dematerialized and entirely concrete, highlighting planes and volumes achieved with great economy of means. Sandback invested the void while connecting the floor, ceiling, and walls, inscribing all these elements. In all his work, Sandback combined the exactitude of the physical sciences with the delicacy of corporeal affect. An additional monumental artwork is presented in the Building Flagey in Ixelles. This exhibition and its publication have been realized by Foundation CAB in cooperation with the Fred Sandback Estate and Archive.
La Fondation CAB a l’honneur de présenter Fred Sandback au cœur d’une exposition personnelle de sculptures et de reliefs du célèbre artiste américain (1943-2003). L’exposition comprend des œuvres présentées dans des expositions historiques et d’autres sculptures jamais exposées auparavant. Elle retrace les différentes périodes de l’œuvre de l’artiste, avec des sculptures linéaires en fil acrylique, cordes élastiques et tiges d’acier. L’artiste a conçu une relation à des espaces vraisemblablement à la fois dématérialisés et entièrement concrets, mettant en évidence des plans et des volumes réalisés avec une grande économie de moyens. Sandback investit le vide tout en reliant le sol, le plafond et les murs, inscrivant tous ces éléments dans son espace. Dans toute son œuvre, Sandback combine l’exactitude des sciences physiques avec la délicatesse de l’affect corporel. Une œuvre est également exposée dans le bâtiment Flagey à Ixelles. Cette exposition et sa publication ont été réalisées par la Fondation CAB en coopération avec Fred Sandback Estate & Archive.
Fondation CAB is vereerdom Fred Sandback te mogen presenteren, een solotentoonstelling met sculpturen en reliëfs van de gerenommeerde Amerikaanse kunstenaar (1943-2003). De tentoonstelling omvat kunstwerken die in historische tentoonstellingen te zien waren, samen metandere, nooit eerder getoonde sculpturen. Ze schetst een beeld van de verschillende periodes in het oeuvre van de kunstenaar met lineaire sculpturen in acrylgaren, elastisch koord en stalen staven. De kunstenaar creëerde een relatie tot ruimtes die zowel gedematerialiseerd, als volstrekt concreet lijken. Hierbij legde hij de nadruk op vlakken en volumes die met een grote spaarzaamheid in het gebruik van materialen werden verwezenlijkt. Sandback investeerde in de leegte terwijl hij de vloer, het plafond en de muren met elkaar verbond en op die manier al deze elementen in zijn ruimte integreerde. In zijn werk combineerde Sandback de precisie van de natuurwetenschappen met de fijngevoeligheid van het lichamelijke affect. Een ander monumentaal kunstwerk is te vinden in het Flageygebouw in Elsene. Deze tentoonstelling en de publicatie werden gerealiseerd door Fondation CAB in samenwerking met Fred Sandback Estate and Archive.

De bons rayons nous aident à sortir du lit et les moineaux sont toujours là.
Le buisson tombé du ciel est au sol, posé sur de l'herbe et de la terre retournée par des verres de terre
sortis d’hibernation, s’ils hibernent bien, il y a des bourgeons sur les rebords,
des choux continuent de pousser dans des potagers laissés en auto-gestion,
et des fleurs disent coucou avec des couleurs. On s’est senti bien épuisé de cet hiver
et je pense qu’on l’est encore, c’est pas tout à fait fini, en fait ça le sera jamais
tant qu’on aura envie de se battre pour de la vie et pour repérer les fissures du béton
mauvaise qualité où ça repousse, et qu’on repère des dessins d’enfants qui racontent
de satellites et de vaisseaux spatiaux juxtaposés à des bateaux approximativement flottants
qui vendent plusieurs rêves en même temps. Si on croit pas en eux, on croit en rien.
Ce sera un mois de Mars tranquille,
avec des ouvertures régulières chaque samedi,
peut-être des trucs improvisés, comme souvent,
pour avoir le temps de voir le printemps monter,
et prendre le temps de le respirer à petits souffles
en écoutant des disques, en copiant des cassettes,
en faisant des pochettes, allongé.es dans un nid,
en sirotant une bande magnétique spaghetti,
en pensant à ce qu’il y a de mieux à faire
entre nous et avec vous et avec les morts
qui continuent de vivre si on le veut.
