Specific Subjects examines the complex relationship between nature, culture and territory, transcending the boundaries of traditional artistic spaces. Through this project, Édith Dekyndt (b.1960, Belgium, lives and works in Brussels) explores the interstices in which knowledge is formed, weaving together new and evolving technologies, ancestral knowledge and contemporary matters.

Specific Subjects examine la relation complexe entre nature, culture et territoire, en transcendant les limites des espaces artistiques traditionnels. Édith Dekyndt (n. 1960, Belgique, vit et travaille à Bruxelles) explore, à travers ce projet, les interstices dans lesquels se forme la connaissance et tisse des liens entre les technologies nouvelles et évolutives, les savoirs ancestraux et les enjeux contemporains.

Fondation CAB Saint-Paul de Vence presents an exhibition by Muller Van Severen, the Belgian design duo Fien Muller (1978, Lokeren) and Hannes Van Severen (1979, Ghent), known for the sculptural interest of their furniture pieces. Muller Van Severen designs graphic, minimalist furniture pieces in carefully selected materials. Leather, brass, polyethylene, steel, marble, aluminum and enamel are often the starting point for their creative process.

La Fondation CAB Saint-Paul de Vence propose une exposition de Muller Van Severen, le duo de designers belges Fien Muller (1978, Lokeren) et Hannes Van Severen (1979, Gand), connus pour l’intérêt sculptural de leurs pièces de mobilier. Muller Van Severen conçoit des pièces de mobilier graphiques et minimalistes dans des matériaux soigneusement choisis. Cuir, laiton, polyéthylène, acier, marbre, aluminium et émail constituent souvent le point de départ de leur processus créatif.

FONDATION CAB Brussels is honoured to host an exhibition dedicated to the American artist Richard Nonas (1936 – 2021, New York). The exhibition offers a fascinating immersion into the singular world of Nonas, a sculptor whose work is distinguished by a profound exploration of space, matter and perception. 
Through his works, often composed of raw materials such as wood, metal and stone, he creates minimalist sculptures that question the relationship between the object and its environment. Nonas explores how these simple elements, through their placement and form, can transform our perception of place, evoking sensations of stability and imbalance. 
Through his unique approach, Richard Nonas questions the boundaries between art and architecture, between the natural and the artificial. His works, despite their apparent simplicity, carry a powerful emotional and intellectual charge, inviting viewers to reflect on their relationship with the objects and spaces in which they inhabit.
This exhibition is a rare opportunity to discover the world of Richard Nonas, an artist whose work continues to resonate powerfully in the contemporary art landscape. La FONDATION CAB de Bruxelles a l’honneur d’accueillir une exposition dédiée à l’artiste américain Richard Nonas  (1936 – 2021, New York). Celle-ci offre une immersion fascinante dans le monde singulier de Nonas, un sculpteur dont le travail se distingue par une exploration profonde de l’espace, de la matière et de la perception. 
A travers ses oeuvres, souvent composées de matériaux bruts comme le bois, le métal et la pierre, il crée des sculptures minimalistes qui interrogent les relations entre l’objet et son environnement. Nonas explore comment ces éléments simples, par leur placement et leur forme, peuvent transformer notre perception des lieux et évoquer des sensations de stabilité et de déséquilibre. 
A travers son approche unique Richard Nonas questionne les frontières entre l’art et l’architecture, entre le naturel et l’artificiel. Ses œuvres, malgré leur simplicité apparente, portent une charge émotionnelle et intellectuelle puissante, invitant les spectateurs à réfléchir sur leur relation avec les objets et les espaces dans lesquels ils habitent.
Cette exposition est une opportunité rare de plonger dans l’univers de Richard Nonas, un artiste dont le travail continue de résonner avec force dans le paysage de l’art contemporain. FONDATION CAB Brussel is verheugd een tentoonstelling te organiseren gewijd aan de Amerikaanse kunstenaar Richard Nonas (1936-2021, New York). De tentoonstelling biedt een fascinerende onderdompeling in de unieke wereld van Nonas, een beeldhouwer wiens werk wordt gekenmerkt door een verkenning van ruimte, materie en perceptie. 
Met zijn werken, vaak samengesteld uit ruwe materialen zoals hout, metaal en steen, creëert hij minimalistische sculpturen die de relatie tussen het object en zijn omgeving in vraag stellen. Nonas onderzoekt hoe deze eenvoudige elementen door hun plaatsing en vorm onze perceptie van plaats kunnen veranderen en sensaties van stabiliteit en onbalans kunnen oproepen. 
Door zijn unieke benadering bevraagt Richard Nonas de grenzen tussen kunst en architectuur, tussen het natuurlijke en het kunstmatige. Ondanks hun ogenschijnlijke eenvoud hebben zijn werken een krachtige emotionele en intellectuele lading en nodigen ze toeschouwers uit om na te denken over hun relatie met de objecten en ruimtes waarin ze leven.
Deze tentoonstelling is een zeldzame kans om een blik te werpen in de wereld van Richard Nonas, een kunstenaar wiens werk nog steeds een krachtige weerklank vindt in het hedendaagse kunstlandschap. Het belooft een boeiende visuele en zintuiglijke ervaring te worden, die de kracht van minimalistische beeldhouwkunst in ons begrip van ruimte en vorm opnieuw bevestigt.

Thomas Tavernier (Brussels, b.2000) will be opening the doors of his studio at Fondation CAB Brussels on Friday 23 August from 12 to 6pm.
‘Taking as starting point my experiences with domestic interiors, I create drawings and site-specific interventions that challenge our immediate gaze towards space and architecture. The ground expands or becomes the very support of the drawings, setting a distance with the subjects. Rotations and duplications create new spaces that play with the limits between figuration and abstraction. The subtle harmony, yet powerful and vibrant colours of soft pastel are at the core of my practice. I produce my own sticks and colour charts, working deeply within the material and colour the itself.’

Ce qui nous intéresse à travers les œuvres équilibrées et subtiles des sept artistes exposés, c’est de stimuler notre perception et de mettre en évidence une autre réalité, la limite de l’espace ou de ce qui s’y cache. Ici, nous nous appuyons sur des thèmes clés tels que l’absence et la présence simultanées, l’espace pictural illimité, la construction, la déconstruction, la lumière, le jeu, la mémoire et le temps. Cette exposition fait dialoguer plusieurs générations d’artistes qui explorent la relation entre l’image et la réalité. Celle-ci est ce qu’on en fait et ce que notre pensée nous laisse voir. Elle explore également l’impact de la lumière et de l’expérience esthétique sur notre perception visuelle. Sublimées par leur sobriété, les œuvres exposées soulignent le lien existant entre le spectateur, l’œuvre d’art et l’espace  environnant.

What we’re interested in through the balanced and subtle works of the seven artists on show is stimulating our perception and highlighting another reality, the edge of space or what is hidden within it. To achieve this, we draw on key themes such as simultaneous absence and presence, unlimited pictorial space, construction, deconstruction, light, play, memory and time. This exhibition features several generations of artists in dialogue, exploring the relationship between image and reality, and the impact of light and aesthetic experience on our visual perception. The works exhibited highlight the link between the viewer, the work of art and the surrounding space.

Wat ons interesseert in de subtiele werken van de zeven tentoongestelde kunstenaars, is hoe ze onze perceptie stimuleren en een andere realiteit binnenbrengen, waarmee ze ons de rand van de ruimte laten zien of wat daarin verborgen ligt. Daarvoor spelen we op thema’s als gelijktijdige aan- en afwezigheid, grenzeloze picturale ruimte, constructie, deconstructie, licht, spel, geheugen en tijd. In deze tentoonstelling komen verschillende generaties kunstenaars samen, in een gedeelde dialoog tussen beeld en werkelijkheid en de invloed van licht en esthetische ervaring op onze visuele perceptie. De tentoongestelde werken benadrukken wat er gebeurt tussen kijker, kunstwerk en de omringende ruimte.
