Yurp, no dates in the previous Q-O2 newsletter – even promising ‘unrestricted expression’ – and then another one a week after to jam calendars full? Apparently that’s how it goes these days.
That being said, mid-October promises to be beautiful and intense: Arthur Chambry is bringing his friends (Ugné Vyliaudaité, Radio Hito, Suzan Peeters, and maybe some surprise guests) who joined him during his residency for his presentation, nobody but Q-O2’s darling ASUNA takes care of Second Sundays #43 (After his memorable passage at Oscillation Festival 2023, the idea that he gets to pick a cocktail already makes us excited), and we’re teaming up with label fave KRAAK for a night of concerts by Eve Aboulkheir and Andrew Pekler. Mid-October also marks the deadline for our yearly Emerging Sound open call: be sure to apply before October 15!
Anyway: no more talkin’, we’re at Q-O2’s listenin’.
Post-residency concert 14 October – 18h-19h – free – @ Q-O2 Arthur Chambry & friends
The idea behind my residency at QO2 is simple: to create a temporary playground in Brussels for local musicians. Above all, it’s a place where we can meet, form alliances, discuss, share, experiment and play. Thinking and practising how we meet is just as important as thinking and practising our sounds. That’s our starting point, and it’s already a huge undertaking. Ugné Vyliaudaité, Radio Hito, Suzan Peeters, and others are still coming.
This Saturday, the windows and doors will be wide open on this site. We’ll be reinterpreting with each guest what happened there: sketches of pieces that carry within them the safeguard of sharing. (read more)
Second Sundays #43 15 October – 17h (doors 16h30) – free – @ Q-O2 ASUNA For its forty-third edition, Second Sundays invites Japanese musician ASUNA, for a ride through his intensive knowledge of micro labels around the world. ASUNA was a definite highlight of the most recent Oscillation Festival, where he performed his psychedelic ‘100 Keyboards’ plus took part in the long form group improvisation with Farida Amadou, Clara De Asis, and Katharina Ernst. He returns to Brussels for the listening session as part of his European tour, with performances in Leuven and Ghent. The Second Sundays series takes place on the second Sunday of every month. Each session is paired with a cocktail-of-the-month, as decided by the invited guest. (read more)
