Manon de Boer Passage for Persona
Persona by Manon de Boer and Latifa Laâbissi turns a cinematic gaze on Écran Somnambule (2012), a performance by Laâbissi, which is in turn based on the film Mary Wigman tanzt (1930), an excerpt of Wigman’s Hexentanz (1926). In Persona, the disruptive power of the seated figure, performed by Laâbissi, is conveyed through de Boer’s circumscribing camera movement.
Specifically for the film’s presentation at Jan Mot, de Boer created the installation Passage for Persona, in collaboration with wang consulting.
