The small-scale installation FLICKWERK showcases a few of Machiel van Stokkum’s recent works and sketches, all produced during his stay at AIR Berlin Alexanderplatz. The images are shot throughout the outskirts of the urban patchwork of Berlin and result from endless walks and wanderings throughout these areas, focusing on repetition in and reproduction of the urban landscape. They are brought together in a semi-architectural structure consisting solely of reclaimed materials that once formed a part of the city [removed];

The installation is on view until December 26, 2022, and opens on December 16, 6 pm, along with some drinks and soup!

Machiel van Stokkum (b. 1991) works and lives between Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Berlin. After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (AMS) in 2017, he has been wandering the land- and cityscapes in Europe, China, and the US, gathering materials and imagery for his installations along the way.

Machiel van Stokkum’s residency is supported by the Mondriaan Fund.
