December Interjection: Matilde Cerruti Quara ‘Emptiness Is The Resting Place’ 

 

Here is the penultimate Interjection Calendar release of this year. Stay tuned for a final 2021 release, we’ve got one more for you this December from Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley! 

Matilde Cerruti Quara is a multimedia artist, poet, theatre-maker, writer and performer of Italian and Slavic descent. Rooted in storytelling, her work reflects on language, archetypes and systems of belief, spirituality and rituals, sexuality, the inherent complexity of humanness and power [removed];In February 2020, she debuted her first experimental play VERDIGRIS, produced with the support of Arts Council England (DYCP) at Jupiter Woods, London, UK. Her prose writing and poetry are published, among others, by Mousse Publishing; MIT List Visual Arts Centre; Towner Art Gallery, the Italian Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennale and featured in independent publishing projects such as ECOCORE and Site Projects. Previously, Matilde worked internationally as an independent curator and producer. She also held a rubric titled In the studio with… for L’Uomo Vogue and was a regular contributor to i-D Italy intertwining fashion, art and think pieces.

New Mind Mapping Forms
is a handwritten diary by Eva Ďurovec who works as a software tester 40 hours per week and studies art at the same time. There are not enough hours in the day to complete everything, to comply with everything. And then there is also her desire to have children. The question: how can all of this be reconciled within the profession of artist? Ďurovec investigates the possibilities that arise from different class formats, and asks what we produce and reproduce—with our bodies, through our routines, trapped between the recurring desires and cruelties of daily life.

Our Interjection 2021 (007) publication, guest edited by Ashleigh Williams, will be released in the new year and celebrated with a launch event featuring newly commissioned performances from contributors Pete Machale, Hassnat Sikander and Leah Coughlan. More information will follow in January.
