Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain : opening of Artavazd Pelechian and Sarah Sze exhibitions

The exhibitions Artavazd Pelechian, Nature, The Seasons, and Sarah Sze, Night into Day will open to the public on Saturday, October 24. Given the current health context, we are unfortunately unable to hold opening events in their traditional form.

Even so, to allow you to explore the universe of these artists wherever you may be, original content on our digital platforms will accompany each of the two exhibitions. Very shortly, you’ll get to discover a new digital program, live events, an augmented reality app designed with Sarah Sze, and an online project devoted to Artavazd Pelechian.

We hope to have the pleasure of seeing you soon at the Fondation to discover these two exhibitions, which will be held in our spaces until March 7, 2021.

The Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain presents the world premiere of Nature, the new film by legendary filmmaker Artavazd Pelechian, a gripping  and lyrical visual poem. Nature is Artavazd Pelechian’s first film since 1993. The exhibition also offers the chance to rediscover one of his most stirring masterpieces, the film The Seasons, an ode to peasant life completed in 1975.

Sarah Sze
Night into Day
From October 24, 2020 to March 7, 2021
Twenty years after her first exhibition at the Fondation Cartier, the artist Sarah Sze has created a new immersive exhibition that dialogues with the spaces of the building by the architect Jean Nouvel. With two new installations, the artist proposes a reverie around the proliferation of images transforming our relationship to objects, time, and memory.

As part of the exhibition’s program, the Fondation Cartier is hosting the American artist and the French sociologist, anthropologist, and philosopher Bruno Latour for a walk through the exhibition and a discussion. You can follow this special event live on our social networks on Monday, October 19 at 7 pm in English on Instagram and the simultaneous translation in French on Facebook
