What: Collaboration Guidelines: An Update
Where: [removed]

The collaboration guidelines assembled by and for Constant set bouncy
delimitations that curve, bend and re-situate … yet they should offer
protection when needed. They are an active articulation that stays open
to corrections and modifications over time and throughout welcome
modulations in Constant’s constellation. The first version was tested
and discussed in different situations over the last months, and then
updated.

What: Radio Implicancies

When: From 14 May to 18 June

Weekly self-hosted broadcasts developed for and with XPUB, Piet Zwart
Media Design Master in Rotterdam; every Thursday from 16:00-17:00.

From the way the Latin alphabet has become ubiquitous in human-machine
interfaces to the naturalized alignment of computation with binary
separations, from mis-directed critiques on algorithmic discrimination,
or harm done to marginalised knowledges by on-line learning platforms,
to eco-solutionism immersed in technocapitalism … we know that
technology orients knowledge and constrains what world(s) can be
thought, studied, imagined and critiqued. We also know that dominant
knowledge systems and technological systems are soaked in colonial
thought, if not practice. But where do we start when we want to do
things differently?

What: Authors of the future @ Copy Paste
Where: Piksel Cyber Salon Bergen +
[removed]
When: From 22 May to 21 June

Constant presents the project Authors of the future in the exhibition
Copy Paste that is curated by Antonio Roberts as part of this years
Piksel festival in Norway. See the show in Bergen or join us on 6 June
for a streaming presentation at 18:00.

“If you are an artist, then you have no doubt copied the work of others.
This copying can range from using pages from a magazine in collage,
adopting the style of an artist, or simply being inspired by the work of
an artist. This natural process of copying, taught to us at every stage
of our artistic development, is burdened by a very complex and messy set
of laws and social conventions which define and limit how we can use
copying within our practices. These don’t take into account exceptions
or nuances, and come from a historical world where artworks were scarce
physical objects, and don’t translate well into a world where culture is
abundant and can be accessed and copied at [removed]#8221;

What: Unbound Libraries Broadcast
Where: [removed],[removed]
When: Friday 5 June, 15:00-18:00

On Friday 5th of June, the worksession Unbound Libraries will come to an
end. After a week of intensive research ’at-home’, the participants will
gather online at 3pm for an informal sharing moment. They will share,
discuss and show impressions of their research during the week.

Worksessions of Constant don’t have any production constraint. This
moment is an opportunity for friendly outsiders to get some glimpse of
the explorations that took place over the week.

What: Opening: DiVersions v2
Where: [removed]
Opening (with all artists present): Thursday June 25, 17:00-19:00
Guided tours: Friday 26 June, 15:00-16:00 and Tuesday 30 June
15:00-16:00

In seven on-line installations, artists show how digital collections of
cultural institutions could welcome very different and even opposing
views. Decolonial and intersectional perspectives call for a rethinking
of on-line cultural heritage. What if we would arrange otherwise, invent
material ways to move with data and listen to metadata’s uncertainties?

The installations in the on-line exhibition were first shown in De
Pianofabriek in October 2019. On the basis of reflections and
discussions among the artists and with visitors, this second version of
DiVersions has been completely reworked.

With: Collection of uncertainties (Marie Lécrivain, Colm o’Neill),
Sketchy recognition (Michael Murtaugh, Nicolas Malevé), Wikified
Colonial Botany (Anaïs Berck), Material Journeys Through Other Realities
(Phil Langley, Mia Melvær), The weight of things (Cristina Cochior), A
new fire ceremony (Zoumana Meïté, Martino Morandi),
Diff3r3ntVversionsArePOSSIBLE?!. (Z.)

Scenography: Mia Melvær and Cristina Cochior.

DiVersions is a project initiated by Constant, Association for Art and
Media, in collaboration with UGent – Department of Educational Studies,
Department of Educational Studies, Werkplaats immaterieel erfgoed,
VIAA/PACKED – Expertisecentrum Digitaal Erfgoed, RoSa – Kenniscentrum
voor gender en feminisme. The second version of the DiVersions
publication will be published in December 2020.
