OSCILLATIONS – EXERCISES IN RESILIENCE
OVERTOON joins forces with the teams at iii in The Hague, bb15 in Linz and Lydgalleriet in Bergen to launch the European network Oscillations – exercises in resilience. This network will be focusing on the exchange of sound art resources via residencies, presentations, workshops and coproductions. Oscillations will initiate crossovers between sound and visual art practices by sharing the networks and complementary expertise of four artist-run initiatives.

We will also debate and exchange strategies and solutions for artist-run organisations in sound art and beyond. The website will be launched in November.

Funded by Creative EU.

INFRAULTRA by Aernoudt Jacobs

INFRAULTRA IN LIEGE
INFRAULTRA by Aernoudt Jacobs is a commission from the City of Liège for a new sound composition for the Cybernetic Tower – an artwork by the Franco-Hungarian artist Nicolas Schöffer at the Parc de la Boverie. The sound composition is based on vocalisations, performed by Yannick Guédon, of inaudible frequencies that are present around us.

THE ALPHABET OF NATURE by Gert Aertsen

GERT AERTSEN & VOID AT SOCIETE D'ELECTRICITE
The term “transcoding” originates from the field of computers and more precisely from the conversion of one digital format to another. However, this terminology appears more and more in the cultural context as a new paradigm beyond common media theories. It addresses the issue of correspondence of signs which one medium operates within another. The exhibition explores the trans-lation/coding of signs in between different forms of expression as a possible reading of actual artistic production. Featuring former Overtoon resident Gert Aertsen & current resident VOID.
