Sculptures, video, salvaged toys and fire drawings open the door to mythological variants united by histories of plagues, protectors, healings and unhinged joy in the first presentation of new studio works by Abner Preis.
Since 2004, the central aspect of Preis’ work has been traditional storytelling, with narratives characterized by appropriation, participation, playfulness and a process based on action and social engagement. In addition to the Netherlands, his work has been exhibited in the USA, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland, and he regularly performs in international art and public spaces, independently or in collaboration with his collective, The Dogs of Shame.
