June  13 – July 11, 2020

These days we spend a lot more time at home than before. More reason than ever to surround yourself with something new, beautiful, intriguing or simply mesmerizing.

Albada Jelgersma Gallery presents: Try this at Home. A new initiative that lowers the threshold for new and existing collectors. Come by to see our specially curated exhibition of art works in the back room. You can find all the works in the exhibition here.

For a modest amount your chosen work can hang on your wall for two weeks, after which you decide whether you would like to keep it.  If you do, there is always the option for those living in the Netherlands to use the restarted Kunstkoopregeling, where you can spread out payment over three years without paying any interest.

The gallery is open Thursday – Saturday from 1-5 pm and by appointment.

Rob Johannesma | glass-blue days | extended through July 11 in the front space of the gallery

This is Rob Johannesma's first solo exhibition at Albada Jelgersma Gallery and his first exhibition of paintings. Johannesma’s paintings cast a new light on his fascination for color, perception and image in the context of art history. For more information on the exhibition please click here.

Mark Kremer wrote an extensive text on Rob Johannesma's new work.  (Dutch)
Kees Keijer wrote a review in Het Parool. (Dutch)
Rob Johannesma wrote a text on his response to the closure of the gallery a week after the opening due to Covid-19. (English)

Unlocked / Reconnected | Mathieu Cherkit

Albada Jelgersma Gallery is pleased to participate in the inter organizational exhibtion Unlocked/ Reconnected. The exhibition aims to provide insight on the various notions of 'house' and 'home'. It is a project that brings together a wide range of 'houses for art': museums, institutes for presentation, galleries, artists' initiatives and corporate collections.

Albada Jelgersma Gallery participates with a work by Mathieu Cherkit, who has used his home as a subject  since he started painting eleven years ago. Something that is now more relevant than ever. You are welcome to visit the gallery to see the work in person.
