Fondation CAB is currently welcoming the Brussels-based Raphaël Lecoquierre (b. 1988, Saint-Cloud, FR) as its tenth artist-in-residence. During the summer, Raphael is working in our studio to continue his experiments with the materialistic qualities of silver gelatin photographs, which he deploys as the source material for stucco and fresco drawings and paintings. In doing so, he weaves together the heritage of Quattrocento Italian artists with the technological advancements of the evolution of photography, while doing a conceptual research on the scope of personal and collective image-making. The notion of time as an entity to be captured; a moment-made-physical stand central: Lecoquierre’s work raises questions about our relationship to images and the passage of time in our world that is implanted and submerged by the visual in an ultra-rapid flow of informations. 



During Brussels Gallery Weekend (3-6 September), the artist will open his studio to present his new body of work in a multi-sensory installation. More information will be announced [removed];

La Fondation CAB accueille actuellement Raphaël Lecoquierre (né en 1988, Saint-Cloud, FR), basé à Bruxelles, comme dixième artiste en résidence. Durant l’été, Raphaël travaille dans notre studio pour poursuivre ses expériences avec les qualités matérialistes des photographies à la gélatine argentique, qu’il déploie comme matière source pour les dessins et peintures en stuc et fresque. Ce faisant, il associe l’héritage des artistes italiens du Quattrocento aux avancées technologiques de l’évolution de la photographie, tout en réalisant une recherche conceptuelle sur l’étendue de la création d’images personnelles et collectives. La notion de temps en tant qu’entité à capturer; un moment de prise de position physique centrale: l’oeuvre de Lecoquierre soulève des questions sur notre relation avec les images et le passage du temps dans notre monde qui est implanté et submergé par le visuel dans un flux d’informations ultra-rapides.

Lors du Brussels Gallery Weekend (3-6 septembre), l’artiste ouvrira son atelier pour présenter son nouveau corpus d’oeuvres dans une installation multi-sensorielle. Plus d’informations seront annoncées prochainement.

Fondation CAB verwelkomt momenteel de in Brussel wonende Raphael Lecoquierre (°1988, Saint-Cloud, FR) als tiende artist-in-residence. Doorheen de zomer werkt Raphael vanuit ons atelier verder aan zijn experimenten met de materialistische kwaliteiten van zilvergelatinefoto’s, dewelke hij inzet als bronmateriaal voor stucco- en fresco-tekeningen en -schilderijen. Daarbij weeft hij het erfgoed van de Italiaanse kunstenaars van het Quattrocento samen met de technologische vooruitgang van de evolutie van de fotografie, en raakt hi aanj een conceptueel onderzoek naar de reikwijdte van persoonlijke en collectieve beeldvorming. De notie van tijd als een vast te leggen entiteit, een momentopname staat centraal. Het werk van Lecoquierre roept vragen op over onze relatie tot beelden en het verstrijken van de tijd in een wereld die door een ultrasnelle stroom van visuele informatie wordt [removed];

Figures on a Ground. Perspectives on Minimal Art presents works by female pioneering Minimalist artists alongside contemporary practices that inscribe themselves in, or question the movement. Minimal art is thus approached through themes such as spatial perception, relationships, nature, the sacred, the body and spirituality.

Figures on a [removed];Perspectives on Minimal Art présente des œuvres d’artistes pionnières du minimalisme aux côtés de pratiques contemporaines qui s’inscrivent dans le mouvement ou le questionnent. L’art minimal est abordé à travers des thèmes tels que la perception spatiale, le relationnel, la nature, le sacré, le corps et la spiritualité.

In zekere zin lijkt Figures on a [removed];Perspectives on Minimal Art in haar felle uitbundigheid nogal antagonistisch voor een tentoonstelling over Minimalistische kunst. Ondanks het feit dat het reductionisme – basisprincipe van het Minimalisme – als een rode draad doorheen de tentoonstelling loopt, maakt verstilling plaats voor onverwachte ingrepen, in een poging het Minimalisme te herdefiniëren.
