Dear audio aficionados, you’re reading a newsletter containing an invitation to a modest celebration of the start of a new orbit around the sun: upcoming Sunday marks our unofficial New Year’s Reception, with a listening session compiled by one of our favourite organisers and curators from Brussels, Mona Brico. She chose a Bloody Mary as the accompying cocktail! Also scheduled is the first workshop of the year, as part of our annual collaboration with La Semaine du Son/De Week van de Klank. Bonne année!

Mona (aka Mona Brico) has been a traveling organizer and curator in Brussels since 2012, specializing in experimental [removed];With a perpetually shifting set of keys, Mona moves fluidly through Brussels’ alternative venues, curating radical and uncompromising lineups. Completely self-taught in musicology, she relies solely on her instincts, often disregarding technicalities and virtuosity. This approach is reflected in her occasionally messed-up but fully unapologetic discourse. Her aesthetic preferences have evolved over time, yet a common thread remains: a focus on intrusion, amplitude, intensity, and tension. In recent years, she shared a sound system named Dolores with D’incise, joined the team at the TTT label, and been entrusted with programming the Haunted Folklore series at Recyclart.
