High summer

Ah, high summer has arrived in our beloved [removed];Leisure life has slowed to a near standstill, with only the Foire du Midi rescuing us from dull [removed];We must admit that the level of activity at Q-O2 is somewhat lower than in other seasons; still, a post-residency presentation by Laura Zapata & María Castro is happening next week, the Second Sundays #50 recording with Franziska Windisch & Paul Gründorfer and our latest episode on Radio Lyl are available on our soundcloud, and we are already announcing our next Second Sundays with MONTAGE in september. We’d also like to remind you again of our yearly call for residencies.

Post-residency presentation
15 August – 18h  –  @ Q-O2 – free
Laura Zapata & María Castro

In this post-residency presentation, reflections will be shared on what it has meant to work closely with sensors that translate gestures into sounds and, perhaps bidirectionally and unexpectedly, sounds into gestures. What sounds correspond to which gestures? What mapping strategies are most useful for certain movements? What sounds invite conscious, active, and profound listening to the body? Is expanded listening also a bidirectional conversation with the body and sound?

In a small open demonstration, the possibilities of this system are presented and ways of entering into dialogue with people on two opposing and yet complementary gestural levels in relation to sound and kinetics are shown: with micro and macro gestures.

QOOOOO2 Lyl Radio with Ire, Ian Nolan, Chloë Janssens, Amy Pickles and Sil Borremans
