Slowly we’re leaving the Oscillation blues behind [removed];After a period in which our time notions were thoroughly shaken through, we found the time for some slowing down, reflection and brooding on future plans. For those waiting for a festival retrospect, both in audio and in pictures, we’ll have to keep you waiting a few more days – but we promise the wait will pay off. Anyway – June is here, summer is here and we have for you a post-residency presentation by Marius Tarakdjioglou (who is also a magna cum laude Q-O2 intern alumnus), Second Sunday’s #40 with Brussels-based organist Hampus Lindwall, and some more Going Out dates of Elena Biserna‘s never-ending world tour.
Post-residency presentation 2 June – 18h-19h – free – @ Q-O2 Marius Tarakdjioglo – Speleologica During his residency, Marius has developed techniques and tools that expand the possibilities of exploring the inner dimension of the body with sound as a material trace, by using a piezoelectric microphone on surfaces such as flesh, rocks, calcite, etc. A space is recreated where the imagination can be projected into a virtual place made up of flesh, warmth, echoes – a place conceived solely by sound in a musical appearance.
The result of Marius’ research at Q-O2 will take the form of a thirty-minute performance of the sound piece Speleologica, in which he is navigating between several sound and instrumental devices, poems and a computer. [read more]
Second Sundays #40 11 June – 17h -18h (doors 16h30) – free – @ Q-O2 Hampus Lindwall Second Sundays is a monthly series initiated by Q-O2. Each session a new guest is invited to share an insight into their own listening, playing and speaking about a selection of sound and music that is important to their thinking or practice. The sessions try to put value on listening to recorded music in a social setting as a space for discussion. The series takes place on the second Sunday of every month. Each session is paired with a cocktail-of-the-month, as decided by the invited guest. For its fortieth edition, Second Sundays invites Brussels-based organist Hampus Lindwall.
Book Elena Biserna : Going Out – Walking, Listening, Soundmaking Going Out explores the relationship between walking, listening, and soundmaking in the arts – from the first soundwalks and itinerant performances in the 1960s to today’s manifold ambulatory projects. The book consists of an extensive essay by Elena Biserna followed by an anthology of 51 historical and contemporary contributions in the form of documentation, essays, interviews, manifestos, scores, narratives and reflections.
