One moon to Oscillation ::: o tempo
…and other april tidings

Our yearly sonic festivities are only one month away, so it’s high time to start looking forward to what’s happening in our favourite weekend of spring. To do so, we filled april with a Second Sundays special, radio shows, a 21 Tracks for the 21st Century special with Oscillation artist Maria Komarova, … Please also note that the workshop program is now complete: a reading group, DJ workshop, polyrhythms, alternative scores, … Be sure to register in time, since places are limited. Other festival tickets (day tickets and festival passes) are also still available.

… and besides all this Oscillation excitement, this is happening too: a concert at festival host MILL by Re-Ghoster (Jérôme Noetinger, Nicolas Field, Thomas Florin, Fritz Welch & Nate Wooley), a post-residency presentation by Yenting Hsu, and the launch of a new podcast by modular synth luminary Aymeric de Tapol.

Concert
8 April – 21h – 10€ / free for -18 –  Jérôme Noetinger, Nicolas Field, Thomas Florin, Fritz Welch & Nate Wooley – Re-Ghoster
Re-Ghoster grew out of a chance encounter between Anglo-Swiss percussionist Nicolas Field, Italian tape & electronics wizard Valerio Tricoli and Swiss pianist Thomas Florin in Geneva in 2018. They quickly discovered a like-minded longing to experiment and distort sound textures in new ways, to explore compositional concepts by using improvisation and the impulse of the moment. They decided to let their strong personalities clash. Re-Ghoster was born and as a trio, they released a first album – ‘Or Not All’ – in 2019.

Presented by MILL.

Interweaving field recordings with electronic sounds and objects, Hsu keeps exploring and experimenting documentary and fiction / narrative and imaginary elements of recorded sounds. Mixing with other art mediums and artistic disciplines, Hsu creates installations, performances, audio documentaries, electroacoustic music, and more. She also collaborates with dance theaters and films as a sound designer/composer.

Oscillation ::: o tempo

The four days of Oscillation 2023 will propose different settings to explore considerations about time. Day by day, we will zoom in on aspects such as displacement in time by memory or anticipation; time-structuring instruments like rhythm, gesture, pulse, repetition or silence; durational simultaneity in which the audience can navigate autonomously; and the subjective temporal experience of improvisation which strongly draws on relationality.

Listen
21 Tracks for the 21st Century: Maria Komarova
HART magazine and Q-O2 join forces with 21 Tracks for the 21st Century, a series of playlists in which we ask our guests: what music does this century need? Each time, we invite one artist, thinker or musician to prepare a playlist of those sounds, songs and pieces of music that will best arm their listeners with the tools to approach what is left of this young century. Playing at Oscillation ::: o tempo, and working on the borders of performing arts, scenography, sound and installation art, Maria Komarova realized this month’s playlist.
