Dear ⓐⓡⓖⓞⓢ reader,

As we’re plaintively yet decisively getting ready for the final weeks of THE 1970s: _____, we wanted to send you a short update on upcoming ⒜⒭⒢⒪⒮ events.

During the weekend of 3 and 4 December, we will join forces with CC Strombeek and Beursschouwburg to present Lumbung Film in the former Douwe Egberts factory in Grimbergen.

Lumbung Film is a repository of film and video works from Documenta 15’s lumbung artists. Subversive Film – an artist collective based between Brussels and Ramallah – will present a thought provoking selection of films from the lumbung audiovisual archive. Please join us for this unique occasion!

On Thursday 8 December, we will extend our opening hours until 20:00 for a nocturnal visit of THE 1970s: ______. During this time, you are invited to discover – or re-visit – the works of the video pioneers featured in the exhibition, or to share a drink and exchange ideas with the 𝓪𝓻𝓰𝓸𝓼 team.

One week later, on Saturday 17 December, we invite you to THE 1970s: _____ closing event at bozar. For this occasion, we are organising a conference with invited international speakers, highlighting similar archival projects in other national contexts, as well as featuring a screening of rarely shown films and videos. More details to be announced soon!

In distribution news, we are excited to mention that An van. Dienderen, Eléonore Yameogo & Rosine Mbakam’s Prism and Raphaël Cuomo & Maria Iorio’s Chronicles of that time are part of the International Competition at the ARKIPEL festival in Jakarta. Fingers crossed for these wonderful audiovisual productions!

We’ve also briefly wanted to mention that we’ve produced a brand new a̷r̷g̷o̷s̷ t-shirt designed by D-E-A-L, honouring our constantly shifting visual identity. Since it’s a limited release, we strongly recommend you to buy it now or cry later 🙂

Finally, we are moved by the sheer force of the ongoing protests in Iran. In solidarity with the protesters and people of Iran, 𝚊𝚛𝚐𝚘𝚜 will pledge 500 € to the Donate to Iran initiative. This campaign provides access to secure VPNs so that Iranians can keep communicating with the outside world at a moment when their government is increasingly cutting off connections to the internet.

C’est à contrecoeur que nous entamons inévitablement les dernières semaines de notre exposition THE 1970s : _____  . C’est l’occasion de faire le point sur les événements à venir chez ⒜⒭⒢⒪⒮. 

Le week-end du 3 et 4 décembre, nous nous associons avec CC Strombeek et
Beursschouwburg pour présenter le projet Lumbung Film dans l’ancienne usine du producteur de café Douwe Egberts à [removed];

Lumbung Film est une collection de films et de vidéos réalisés par des membres et des artistes pratiquant le lumbung. Le collectif Subversive Film – basé entre Bruxelles et Ramallah – présentera une sélection de films et vidéos issus de ce catalogue collectif. Rejoignez-nous pour ce moment unique !

Le jeudi 8 décembre, nous prolongerons jusqu’à 20h00 nos heures d’ouverture pour une nocturne de l’expo THE 1970s : ______. Vous y êtes convié.[removed] pour découvrir – ou revoir – le travail de [removed] de la vidéo ou à partager tout simplement un verre avec l’équipe d’𝓪𝓻𝓰𝓸𝓼.

La soirée de clôture de l’exposition aura lieu une semaine plus tard, le samedi 17 décembre, à bozar. À cette occasion, nous organisons une conférence avec des invité.[removed] [removed], qui mettront en lumière l’inventivité et la singularité des premiers∙ères artistes belges et européens∙nnes ayant utilisé le medium vidé[removed];Plus de détails suivront bientôt !

Concernant la distribution, nous sommes [removed] de mentionner que deux films de notre catalogue font partie de la compétition internationale du festival ARKIPEL à Jakarta: Prism d’An van. Dienderen, Eléonore Yameogo & Rosine Mbakam et Chronicles of that time de Raphaël Cuomo & Maria Iorio. Croisons les doigts pour ces deux merveilleuses productions !

Et puis, un peu de publicité: on mentionne aussi que le tout nouveau t-shirt de a̷r̷g̷o̷s̷ conçu par D-E-A-L est arrivé. S’agissant d’une édition limitée, nous vous recommandons de l’acheter illico presto, au risque de le regretter 🙂

Enfin, nous sommes é[removed] par les protestations en cours en Iran. En solidarité avec les manifestants et le peuple iranien, 𝚊𝚛𝚐𝚘𝚜 s’engage à verser 500 € à la campagne Donate to Iran. Cette initiative permettra à des Iraniens d’accéder à des VPN sécurisés pour qu’ils puissent continuer à communiquer avec le monde extérieur. Ceci à un moment où leur gouvernement leur coupe l’accès à Internet et multiplie les actes de censure.

De laatste weken van onze THE 1970s: _____ tentoonstelling worden schoorvoetend maar vastberaden ingezet. Laten we samen de komende ⒜⒭⒢⒪⒮ evenementen overlopen.

Tijdens het weekend van 3 en 4 december presenteren we met CC Strombeek en Beursschouwburg Lumbung Film in de voormalige Douwe Egbertsfabriek in Grimbergen.

Lumbung Film is een verzameling film- en videowerken van de lumbung-kunstenaars van Documenta 15. Het kunstenaarscollectief Subversive Film, werkzaam in Brussel en Ramallah, presenteert een prikkelende selectie films uit de collectie. Het belooft een uitzonderlijke vertoning te worden!

Op donderdag 8 december blijven we open tot 20:00 uur voor een nocturne! (Her)ontdek de werken van de videopioniers uit de tentoonstelling of kom iets te drinken aan onze toog en ontmoet het 𝓪𝓻𝓰𝓸𝓼 team!

Een week later nodigen we jullie uit voor de slotavond van THE 1970s: _____ in bozar: op zaterdag 17 december organiseren we een conferentie met internationale genodigden die de inventiviteit en de eigenheid van de eerste Belgische en Europese videasten zullen [removed];

Op vlak van distributie zijn we verheugd aan te kondigen dat zowel Prism van An van. Dienderen, Eléonore Yameogo & Rosine Mbakam als Chronicles of that time van Raphaël Cuomo & Maria Iorio deel uitmaken van de internationale competitie op het ARKIPEL festival in Jakarta. Duimen maar voor deze twee prachtige producties!

We vermelden ook even de gloednieuwe a̷r̷g̷o̷s̷ t-shirt die, ontworpen door D-E-A-L, onze voortdurend veranderende visuele identiteit in de kijker zet. Het is een gelimiteerde oplage, grijp dus snel je kans! 🙂 

Tot slot willen we nog iets delen in verband met de aanhoudende protesten in Iran. Uit solidariteit met de betogers en met het Iraanse volk doneert 𝚊𝚛𝚐𝚘𝚜 500 € aan het Donate to Iran-initiatief. Daarmee worden veilige VPN-verbindingen aangemaakt zodat het contact tussen Iraniërs en de buitenwereld mogelijk blijft. De Iraanse regering trekt namelijk steeds vaker de stekker uit om opstanden de kop in te drukken en tegenstemmen te censureren.

Doneer wat je kan via hun website of bezoek 𝕒𝕣𝕘𝕠𝕤 in de loop van de maand december want de volledige opbrengsten van onze ticketverkoop gaan rechtstreeks naar dit initiatief!
