Donal Sarsfield
In the creation of a ‘live’ hörspiel Donal Sarsfield shall attempt to find points of contact between sounds which will involve walking, singing, listening, talking, and thinking, although not in equal parts! Come listen to some of the most historic floors of Europe! Clap, like you’ve never clapped before! Discover the difference between renaissance, romantic and contemporary rain! Come steal time with me, and all will hopefully be forgotten.

installation
7 December – 9 January
Farida Amadou
In the framework of Europalia, Farida Amadou presents an audiovisual installation in two parts. A first space, littered with objects from the railway universe, is mixed with amplified piano chords, allowing the public to create a sound improvisation. A second space combines moving images of trains in Belgium. They merge to create a compilation of contemporary perspectives. She integrates sounds that she has captured during recent collaborations with musicians from all walks of life, recorded during 2020.

concert
10 December – 20h
Sébastien Roux with Deborah Walker, Yannick Guédon and Cyprien Bussolini + Sajjra Xhrs Galarreta
How does a sound disappear? Does it give way to silence? What does it replace? When we become aware of its disappearance, how long has it already disappeared? Is it a sound illusion: perhaps the sound never existed?

lab session
11 December – 14h-18h
Free Improv Lab with Farida Amadou
3rd session of the cycle of Free Improv labs with Farida Amadou: playing what you feel in the moment, feeling the energy of other players and of the space and always being aware of what is happening around and inside your own personal circle.
Choose to be silent, choose to challenge others, challenge yourself.
Free Improv Lab is a series of guided collective free improvisations, exploring the vocabularies that each performer brings with them.

Second Sundays #26
12 December – 17h (doors 16h30) – free
Floris Vanhoof
Second Sundays is a monthly series initiated by Q-O2. Each session a new guest is invited to share an insight into their own listening, playing and speaking about a selection of sound and music that is important to their thinking or practice. The sessions try to put value on listening to recorded music in a social setting as a space for discussion. The series takes place on the second Sunday of every month. Each session is paired with a cocktail-of-the-month, as decided by the invited guest.
For its twenty-sixth edition, Second Sundays invites Antwerp multimedia artist Floris Vanhoof.

Post-residency performance
20 December (date and place to be confirmed)
Lenyema Okiteke
Through his research and creation project, Lenyema approaches the Luba sound archives present in the AfricaMuseum collections in two ways: firstly as a sociological tool, by confronting his hypotheses – linked to his father’s career – with the narratives, fictional or not, that may accompany them, and secondly as a musical object, by exploiting the interactions that may result from the confrontation between his rhythmic preoccupations – centred on polyrhythm, the use of complex rhythms – and the load, both technical and aesthetic, that these sound objects carry. In collaboration with Africamuseum.
