OVERTOON NEWSLETTER APRIL 2021 | ||
Throughout March and April, Overtoon is happy to welcome two research residents in our studio’s: new face Anne van de Star and Jeroen Uyttendaele with whom we had the chance to work several times before.
Anne van de Star continues her research on the relationship between visual and acoustic oscillation. After a series of individual pieces, the aim is to set up a large scale kinetic sound-installation with multiple hanging objects, that immerses the spectator in unpredictable movements, loops and events. During his stay this time around, Jeroen will further develop Tabling, a series of self-constructed speakers, and look for ways to activate the installation into a live performance. Go to his page on our website to find images and video of the work in progress. AND& Festival 2021, festival Hosted within the frame of the 2021 AND& festival, the exhibition Look At Us Now focuses on artists who critically approach and transform innovative technologies and design into artistic concepts that arm us against the vortex of our time. Various sound and audiovisual installations are presented at STUK and in the Leuven public space. Former Overtoon resident Yann Leguay‘s VOLTA will be on view at the KADOC chapel. Curated by Gilles Helsen & Karen Verschooren. AND& Festival, Leuven, Belgium Oscillation Festival 2021, festival Oscillation - Tuned Circuits takes place over 4 days as a live broadcast from MILL, Brussels and additional locations. The festival will mix talks, performances and works for radio. Each day focusses on a sub-thematic: attuning, as a movement of convergence; feedback, as a circular movement which amplifies itself; detuning, as a movement of unlearning and a condition for regeneration. The Live Audio Stream will be accessible via the website, and diffused on several independent radio stations: Radio p-node, Radio Lyl, Radio Campus Bruxelles, Radio Helsinki and Colaboradio. Oscillation Festival, online And before we let you head off, we kindly want to ask you for your help. Overtoon is part of a diverse group of artists and art organizations that are looking for space in Brussels to organize affordable and qualitative artist studios. Together with more than 100 artists and 10 art organisations we are currently based in the former Actiris offices in the heart of Brussels. But: we need to move out by the end of summer. Therefore, we and many others are currently on the lookout for several 1000m² of vacant property, be it floors or entire buildings, to manage art studios and art offices in Brussels. Over the past eight years, we have built up extensive experience to ensure proper maintenance and management of the spaces, safekeeping and contract handling. You can find all info here.
