On & For Production Models Conversation

Because of current events, the formerly scheduled seminar named Production Models has been transformed into an online conversation that focuses on the different methods of artists’ moving image (AMI) production and will result in a reflective text, keynote and DATA SWAP, which we will be sharing with you this autumn.

ONLINE CONVERSATION
08/09/2020
11:30-13:00

What are the current modes and conditions of artists’ moving image production and what does the future entail?

The process of artists’ moving image (AMI) production can be achieved through a plethora of methods. Artists can produce their own films as well as receive support from festival or art centre curators. On & For intends to shed light on these different options through the Production Models conversation which aims to share and generate knowledge gained from artists, producers and other cultural agents on the intricacies and condictions of AMI production.

The programme for this session will consist of an online conversation between producing agents from several different sources of AMI production ([removed] independent production platforms, artist-run production platforms, film festival programmes, arts centre production programmes) moderated by María Palacios Cruz.

She will then adapt the knowledge obtained from this conversation into a reflective text. This text, accompanied with a production DATA SWAP and a keynote from Niels Van Tomme, director of ARGOS Centre for Audiovisual Arts, will be published this autumn.

Participants include Leonardo Bigazzi (Lo Schermo dell’arte, IT), Mason Leaver-Yap (KW Institute for Contemporary Art, DE), Marie Logie (Auguste Orts, BE), María Palacios Cruz (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, ES/UK), Anže Peršin (Stenar Projects, PT), Reem Shilleh (Subversive Film, BE/PS), Niels Van Tomme (ARGOS, BE), Mohanad Yaqubi (Subversive Film, BE/PS).

QUESTIONNAIRE & DATA SWAP

A questionnaire inquiring about the production model of each organisation was sent out to the participants of the Production Models Conversation. The questions concerning their personal role as a producer and way of operating will be used as the foundation of the online conversation.

The detailed figure-based questions were used to gain insight into the workforce, production budgets and funding sources behind the various production organisations and methods and present this information in a DATA SWAP.

This DATA SWAP offers a unique and comparative look at the participating organisations that represent different production models and serves as an analytical accompaniment to the reflective text and the keynote.

We look forward to sharing this information with you this autumn.
