Who are the others? Is that us? We’re different from Who? From what? Are we the opposite of what? We are the context of who? Immersed in a temporal limbo still difficult to decipher and define, The Others Art Fair takes up these themes again and again since its debut and is preparing for its
tenth edition with the willingness to experiment with a renewed format that is able to interpret the new possibilities of action with you, them and others.
Despite the limitations imposed by the current situation to the realization of cultural events, The Others has worked non-stop on the creation of a new project.
We waited until the borders were opened to communicate all the news of this
tenth edition.
The Others is the main Italian fair dedicated to emerging national and international art, created to enhance new creative energies through a unique exhibition system, aimed at rediscovering and give new life to abandoned places of Turin. A model that rejects the rules of traditional fairs to encourage a more direct and immediate dialogue between artistic proposals and the different audiences that follow the Italian and international art scene.
The Others, for the second year guided by the artistic direction of
Lorenzo Bruni, presents a new Curatorial Committee composed of experts from different professional backgrounds:
Elisa Carollo, art advisor and a keen analyst of new exhibition practices, holds a Master Degree in Art, Law and Business from Christie’s New York, lives and works in Milan, where she is responsible for the new Art Advisory department of a Milanese tax firm;
Adam Carr, curator and critic, in the last fifteen years he worked on exhibition projects through which he has investigated the legacy of conceptual practices with respect to new generations of international artists, currently teaches Art History and Museum Policies at LJMU in Liverpool, where he lives and works;
Dobrila Denegri, art historian and curator with a long experience in museums in Italy, Serbia and Poland, has served for five years as director of the Center of Contemporary Art in Torun, teaching fashion and design, living and working in Rome;
Kateryna Filyuk, curator and critic, after the experience at the course for curators at the De Appel Art Centre in Amsterdam, coordinates the 89books publishing house in Palermo, dedicated to photography, as well as the role of curator of the Izolyatsia Foundation in Kiev, where she experiments new ways of residency for artists;
Elda Oreto, art historian and critic, after coordinating the Arctic Svalbard Art Centre in Norway, returned to Berlin, where she had founded and directed an art gallery for three years, to devote herself to writing and experimenting with new narratives at the time of social media.
