Open Oproep: Hoe zullen we ons de Coronatijd herinneren?
 

Schrijver en filosoof Simon(e) van Saarloos doet een Open Oproep om de huidige Coronatijd alvast te herdenken. De lancering van the spread of a mo(nu)ment is onderdeel van een onderzoekstraject, geïnitieerd door TAAK, naar alternatieve vormen van opdrachtgeverschap voor kunst in het publieke domein. Iedereen is welkom om een herdenking bij te dragen. Alle ingestuurde monumenten worden onderdeel van een verzameling performatieve werken, uitgevoerd door Van Saarloos.
 
Meerstemmigheid in plaats van selectie
In de Westerse traditie zijn herdenkingsrituelen en geschiedschrijving afhankelijk van selectie en categorisatie. the spread of a mo(nu)ment is een collectief, langzaam uitdijend monument, dat bestaat uit ingestuurde voorstellen. Er vindt geen selectie plaats: alle inzendingen worden gehonoreerd en uitgevoerd. Deze herdenking vloeit voort uit een filosofie van overvloed, en veronderstelt dat er altijd genoeg ruimte is voor alle verhalen, zonder selectie of hiërarchisch onderscheid. De aandacht voor een veelvoud aan ervaringen kan een protest vormen tegen het crisisbeleid waarmee op Covid-19 wordt gereageerd.
 
Stuur je herdenking in
We nodigen je uit een kort verhaal, beschrijving, beeld, ritueel, partituur, choreografie, lied of andere uiting in te sturen. Je herdenking wordt onderdeel van een performance in de publieke ruimte – een grotere verzameling van werk – mogelijk vluchtig, mogelijk [removed];

Writer and philosopher Simon(e) van Saarloos extends an Open Call to remember the current Corona era. The launch of this call is part of a research trajectory, initiated by TAAK, on alternative forms of commissioning art in the public [removed];Everyone is invited to contribute a commemoration. All submitted memorials will become part of a growing body of performative work by Van Saarloos.
 
Abundance instead of selection
In Western tradition, commemoration and history depend on selection and categorization. the spread of a mo(nu)ment is a collective, slowly expanding monument, consisting of submitted proposals. There is no selection: all proposals will be honored and enacted. This memorial grows from a philosophy of abundance, proposing that there is enough space for all stories, without selection or hierarchical distinctions. Focusing on our plural experiences is an act of disobedience against the disaster politics in response to Covid-19.
