MUU NEWSLETTER [removed] In this newsletter: MUU’s exhibitions will open again! MUU Galleria at web-based art fair until [removed] Open call for artists MEDIA CUBE 2020 MUU’s artists members: online events MUU’S EXHIBITIONS WILL CONTINUE IN JUNE! JUKKA HAUTAMÄKI – Restituo Media artist Jukka Hautamäki is dealing with thematics related to the future of visual arts: what kind of art there will be in year 2050? Who is making it, to whom and how it will be presented? Restituo (latin.) means restoring, reinstating, reinvesting, re-edifying. The synthesis of images, based on neural networks and artificial intelligence, is a seamless evolutionary process. Hautamäki uses for example selfies and synthetic faces of people who do not exist, as training images for the AI. The exhibition has been supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland. Artist Jukka Hautamäki at present in galleria Sunday [removed] and Saturday [removed] at 12-4pm. MUU GALLERIA I Lönnrotinkatu 33, 00180 Helsinki I Open tue-fri 12-5pm, sat–sun 12–4pm
HANNU TÖYRYLÄ – Faces, memories In the past decade or two, our originally private sphere of contacts and memories has become mixed within a public sphere. Private matters are now entangled with and even dominated by news, real and fake, advertisements, as well as often aggressive opinions of strangers. In the exhibition, artist Hannu Töyrylä looks back, in the form of an AI based installation, to when he was a student of technology. People used to communicate by a landline telephone, and even letters and postcards, as well as collect personal memories in photo albums. It was expected that technology would develop so as to enrich this private sphere. A videophone, not unlike the one in this exhibition, would allow us to see each other while talking. Artist Hannu Töyrylä at present in MUU Saturday [removed] and Sunday [removed] at 12-4pm. MUU STUDIO I Lönnrotinkatu 33, 00180 Helsinki I Open tue-fri 12-5pm, sat–sun 12–4pm Welcome to visit MUU. MEDIA CUBE 2020 image: Joonas Hyvönen, God’s Flat Earth is Drowning MEDIA CUBE is a collaborative project by Arts Promotion Centre Finland, Central Library Oodi, Artists’ Association MUU, and University of the Arts Helsinki. Doors of immersive art will open at Oodi Library. The project explores new frontiers of visual art in the age of digital technology and culture. Media Cube at Central Library Oodi challenges artists to invent immersive artworks that explore new ways to create a holistic art experience. The technical facilities of the Kuutio space at Oodi library are unique, allowing the creation of artworks that could never have been presented before anywhere in Finland. How does a work of art in Kuutio manifest itself to viewers? What sensations and thoughts does it provoke? Media Cube will present two new works specially produced for the space: God’s Flat Earth is Drowning by Joonas Hyvönen, and Oodin Äidit by Ami Lindholm.
