Montez update: MPR March Broadcast and Call for Submissions

Montez Update

Dearest friends,

As we are all aware, coronavirus is deeply affecting our abilities to gather and communicate  and function. Montez Press Radio is committed to continuing our broadcasting efforts. Our March programming, as listed on the website, will be aired as scheduled. We are however asking that our audience tune in over the interwaves rather than visiting us at 46 Canal Street. Our community is so important to us and we want to protect everyone’s health and wellbeing while still providing a platform for communication during this moment of anxiety and uncertainty.

Additionally, we have had to unfortunately postpone our offsite broadcast from Milan which was planned for next month, but are opening up the month of April to our audience and participants as an opportunity to send in prerecorded material for the radio. Radio is a powerful tool for the dissemination of information during times of dislocation, chaos, confinement and restricted movement:

Did you lose your job?
Was your lecture cancelled?
Was your opening postponed?
Have you made any great playlists while isolated?
How has the ban on public gatherings affected your ability to view and make work?
Are you familiar with self-isolating and restricted access already due to chronic illness, disability or mental health?

MPR’s broadcasting can offer a platform to share in these experiences and continue to make work together, even if not in physical space.

As a small gesture of solidarity with the artists and workers who have undoubtably been feeling the economic impact of this pandemic we are able to offer small monetary compensations for these contributions, which can be of any length. We’re accepting submissions on a rolling basis with deadlines of April 1st, April 15th, and April 29th. We will be broadcasting intermittently throughout the month whenever we have gathered enough [removed];
