Fans de psychomotricité, WIELS vous tend les bras à la faveur de sa programmation qui met en lumière le travail pas assez connu de Franz Erhard Walther. A chaque fois, c’est au spectateur de prêter vie et chair aux créations. Jamais tout à fait le même, ni tout à fait un autre, cet étonnant processus s’approche de la performance.

Niet het origineel, maar wel een tiental voor de tentoonstelling gemaakte kopijen kunnen hier uitgetest worden. Niet hun voorkomen is belangrijk, wel hun gebruik. Zonder actie betekenen ze helemaal niets. Walther legt minimale en eenvoudige handelingen op die je bewust moeten maken van tijd en ruimte. De ervaring even sculptuur te zijn, daar gaat het om.

Franz Erhard Walther’s 1960s work with the body hasn’t received the same critical attention as that of Chris Burden or Bruce Naumann, perhaps because it never engaged issues of popular culture. With his turn to creating large, static, richly coloured structures in the 1970s, Walther extended the concerns of twentieth-century Neo-Plasticism. The entire range of his output is represented in this survey, which spans nearly 60 years.

Les vidéos de Zaatari explorent l’histoire récente du Liban, celle de la guerre perpétuelle, au départ d’images anciennes et de textes surgis du passé. Un travail autour de la mémoire et des archives dont il s’attache à extraire des vérités passées inaperçues et auxquelles il offre une nouvelle vie.

Een mooi eerbetoon aan een heldhaftige weigerpiloot. Geduld moet de bezoeker wel hebben. Zaatari is in de loop der tijd minder uitgesponnen en langdradig gaan werken, maar de rust en de tandenborstel en de stofkam van een archeoloog is nodig. Dat loont uiteindelijk voor kijker en kunstenaar.
