Francis Alÿs first solo exhibition in Japan

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo recently opened the first half of a large exhibition of the socially relevant work of Francis Alÿs, the artist’s first solo show in Japan. This exhibition will offer a comprehensive view at a series of major projects by the artist, with a total of 140 pieces on display.

The exhibition 'Continuer' offers an overview of the oeuvre of Belgian poet and painter Walter Swennen and is organised in collaboration with WIELS Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels. This exhibition encompasses the last sixteen years of his painting, a period during which the artist expanded his repertoire of formal and expressive solutions in a quite remarkable fashion.
