MariaChapel // Pulpitum, Nicolodi // Van Munster at Lugar a Dudas

// New address
Since April 15
th, HMK has also moved the offices and meetingrooms to the previously vacant spaces in the MariaChapel. HMK can now use the entire Maria Chapel (instead of just the exhibitionspace) for our organisation, meetings and production. The other spaces in the Chapel include a small movietheatre and several storage and workspaces.

So, we let go of our guesthouse, but we believe our move can benefit and consolidate HMK’s future plans and program. We are quite pleased with this development, and have tons of ideas for the new spaces. At the moment, we are looking to host our essential guesthouse-facilities elsewhere, but we are hoping to eventually include this function in the Chapel. More information about our plans to follow.

// HMK director resigning
From may 1
st, HMK director Josine Sibum Siderius will no longer be working for HMK. She joined the team in 2009, and became co-director of HMK in 2010. She will start working at Witte de With, Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam. Wouter Sibum and Bas Hendrikx will be taking over her tasks. We would like to invite you to check out our new space during the opening for Renato Nicolodi’s show on May 26th. This will also be a final HMK-event for Josine Sibum Siderius.

OPENING // [removed] FLACC, Genk // Renato Nicolodi
Sunday May 26
th, 4PM

Nicolodi has been invited to work at the FLACCresidency in Genk for a year. This residency offers artists well equipped studio’s and production facilities, but no exhibitionspace. HMK has invited Nicolodi to present his work, which he produced at FLACC, in a solo-exhibition in the MariaChapel. Nicolodi’s work consists of models and images of constructions and buildings, often referring to sculptural art and architecture. In the MariaChapel, he will be showing some monumental sculptures, as well as 2D works, which he produced at FLACC over the last few months.

ONGOING // Elopement in Cali, Colombia
HMK curator Wouter Sibum is currently staying at Colombian residency Lugar a Dudas, with Dutch artists Leonard van Munster and Maze de Boer. The presentation following the Colombian artists’ visit to HMK, will be on show until April 28th. With: Ericka Florez, Adrian Gaitan, Juan Sebastian Ramirez.
