In the unique architecture of the Gehry Galleries, works by the visionary pioneer Lois Weinberger (*1947 Stams, † 2020 Vienna) and the contemporary sculptor Katinka Bock (*1976 Frankfurt, lives and works in Paris) enter into an artistic dialogue. This is dedicated to processes that are inherent in nature and material as well as in architecture and space. While Weinberger dedicated his work to so-called “ruderal plants”, supposed weeds, as well as cartographies and archaeological traces, Katinka Bock focuses her work on physical changes in materials, which she transforms into poetic installations. Both artists share an interest in natural processes, which are used artistically. The works selected for the exhibition, some of which were newly created, react to the museum architecture and literally grow beyond it into the outdoor space around the Marta.
