Many things to look forward to at NW. This Saturday 30 August, artistic director Laura Herman will take you on a tour of the current exhibitions. Until 31 August, we present Risonances, an exhibition by our partner Manus Magazine. NW will be part of RendezVous-Brussels Art Week with a listening session of Echoic Choir by Stine Janvin, Ula Sickle and Raphaël Hénard. A Choreographic Exhibition

On May 3 and 4, artist and choreographer Ula Sickle transformed the NW building into a space for movement, scenography, sound, photography, and video works. In this video, Sickle takes us through her work and this live exhibition. In 2025, NW continues to support WAKA Studio, a project by artist Guy Woueté — a dynamic workspace and ongoing research initiative rooted in the Njombé-Penja region of Cameroon. This fall, the collaboration continues with a new workshop: Transmissions: How to Make School? How to Make Institution?

A touristic guide for Aalst Rechteroever

 
 

In Aalst and its surrounding districts, Elien Ronse and Leontien Allemeersch (Kunstenplatform PLAN B) are working on a long-term, committed project focused on social work and community building. Here in the Right Bank (Rechteroever) in Aalst, they took to the streets with the question: “If we were to make a travel guide for this neighborhood, what absolutely needs to be included?” The answers they collected not only reveals what lives in the area but also offers concrete tools to help rebuild the social fabric.

Manus presents: Risonances

The resonance of Risography

 
 

Risography is a key stylistic element of Manus magazine. Image creators (graphic artists, photographers and illustrators) were given the chance to leave their mark on an issue each [removed];Risonances is an exhibition that highlights the diversity and creativity of Manus image-makers. Inspired by the risoprint technique and the idea of resonance, this exhibition establishes a visual dialogue between the artists and their work, with each work contributing as an echo to a larger narrative.

BRUSSELS ART WEEK

NW takes part in RendezVous – Brussels Art Week, a city-wide programme dedicated to the vibrant Brussels’ contemporary art scene. At 18:00, Lisa Vlaemminck presents a poetry reading, ahead of her upcoming exhibition Gut, opening at NW on 31 October.

At 20:00, we host a listening session of Echoic Choir. Blurring the lines between concert and performance, the work returns to the essence of clubbing: replacing loudspeakers with the pure voices of a [removed];

Film Focus in collab with Eye Amsterdam and Cinema Lumière

 
 

This autumn, we pay tribute to one of the most influential filmmakers of the twentieth century: Akira Kurosawa. This focus, in collaboration with Eye Filmmuseum Amsterdam and Cinema Lumière, is the most comprehensive in Flanders. The restored films have already attracted 12,000 visitors!
