Montez Press Radio is proud to present the US premiere of The Other Queen of Memphis, a documentary celebrating the legacy of La Chat, an unsung icon of the Memphis rap scene whose impact on music and culture is far-reaching and profound. Directed by Luna Mahoux, the film follows La Chat’s journey through Memphis, tracing a story of legacy and loss, while reflecting the stark tension between cultural influence and material wealth, which culminates in a moving tribute to her friend and artistic collaborator Gangsta Boo. Screening followed by a Q&A with artist and filmmaker Luna Mahoux and rapper and featured subject La Chat, moderated by writer and curator Ebony Haynes.
